CUHK- Chinese University of Hong Kong Summer Research

 

For the AY 2022-2023, this program will not be offered. The following information is provided as a reference for future years and is subject to change. 

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP) provides students with the opportunity to conduct research for 8 weeks in Hong Kong. Students are able to choose from a variety of research topics.

 

Application requirements:

  • Good academic and behavioral standing
  • Must be studying in your second year or higher at the time of application
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA 
  • Please check partner school for additional requirements

Costs for the program can be found on the CUHK website. Funding for SSOE students through the Swanson School of Engineering may be possible, please watch for research and internship funding information to be sent out to all students via email. Academic Description: 
Students are eligible to earn 3 credits for their research at CUHK upon successful completion of the program. If you are seeking academic credit to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh, please consult with your academic advisor. Keep in mind if you want to get academic credit at Pitt additional tuition cost and fees will apply. You must alert Engineering International Programs prior to departure if you plan to transfer credit.

Application Instructions: 

Students must complete BOTH the Pitt application AND CUHK application by stated deadlines.  In addition to applying to Pitt Global Experiences through this application portal,  and submitting the Pitt application materials, you must also submit an application and additional documents DIRECTLY to the CUHK Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP)   Pitt's application deadline for this program is typically in February.   CUHK-SURP typically has a similar deadline!  Any questions, please contact Chandra Colaresi, SSOE Global Experiences Office.
