While in Florence, I accidentally tried a new dish I did not intend to eat. While sitting in an authentic Italian Restaurant, I was google searching all the names of the dishes because it was an Italian menu. I saw a picture of what I thought was noodles in a tomato sauce, and I decided to order it. When my meal arrived, I thought everything was normal, so I decided to take my first bite. The noodle was chewier than I expected it to be, but I brushed it off thinking I must have gotten one bad noodle. I went in for my next bite and noticed this noodle was just as chewy. I finally decided to eat one more noodle just to make sure, and again, it was chewy. I took my phone back out and looked the name of the dish up again, but this time I looked at the description of the dish and not just the picture. My stomach turned when I read it- I was eating long slivers of cooked cow stomach and its intestines. I learned my lesson to never just order by looking at the pictures again.

In conclusion, studying abroad in Florence is an amazing chance to explore their food culture. And hey, even if you accidentally try something weird, it's a lesson to not just trust pictures when ordering. Studying abroad in Florence encourages you to step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and appreciate the deliciousness of Italian cuisine.
