"French in the City, and the City in France: Urban Studies track" provides students an experience to explore and analyze French and Western European urban spaces. This 6 week program will begin in Paris, France following by 5 weeks in Lille, France. The location in Lille in the North of France offers a locale to help students interested in urban studies the chance to study how a medium-size French city has responded to twenty-first-century urban challenges while maintaining its urban history.

Pitt in Senegal: Traditional Medicine, Culture, & French

Welcome to this 7 credit Maymester in Dakar Senegal, the western gateway to the African continent. Senegal is increasingly viewed as the arts and culture capital of the continent with a rich history in literature, cinema, art, and music, complemented by Senegalese hospitality (Teranga) -- the warm embrace of others. All students will take Senegal: Intersections of Culture, History, Religion & Dance and then can choose between immersing themselves in French or focusing on Traditional Medicine in a health and healing course.
 

Race and Business Ethics in South Africa

In Race and Business Ethics in South Africa, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the historical and contemporary experience of racial minorities from a global perspective. Business leaders, community leaders, and students are seeking knowledge about the ways corporations and institutions have participated in historical and structural racism. Internal and external stakeholders are asking difficult questions about corporate social responsibility in light of these troubling histories. 

Archaeology in Greece

This program offers students the opportunity to participate in an archaeological excavation in Greece with Pitt faculty. Greece provides an immersive learning experience in its ancient history and modern culture, from iconic temples and museum to distinctive music, food, hospitality, landscape, beaches, and people. Corinth was a major trade hub and a center of artistic innovation, with its port at Lechaion linking Greece with the wider Mediterranean world.

Food Studies in Rome

This program is designed for undergraduate students interested in the relationship between food, gender, and sustainability in the context of Italy. During this short-term program, you spend four weeks living in Rome, Italy exploring the distribution, production, consumption, and disposal of food as well as issues surrounding sustainability. You will participate in local site visits at restaurants, food production sites, agritourism farms, and food markets. You will experience Italian cuisine and the gendered systems that produce it.

Rome: Art, Language, & Culture

Study and live in the Eternal City of Rome, Italy. Students on this program will select two courses to take. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Italian language and art history while discovering the rich Italian way of life, la dolce vita. This six-week, 6 or 7-credit program (depending on courses selected) is open to students of any discipline, but especially for Italian Majors and Minors, students interested in Italian Language, Culture, and Modern Italy as well as Art History Majors or Minors or any student interested in art history or museums studies.

Exploring Art in Florence

Study art history in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Whether you’ve studied art history before or not, Exploring Art in Italy gives you the tools you need to enjoy Italian art and culture. This program is designed for any student interested in Art, Architecture, History, Italian Culture or Museum Studies. You will take 2 courses on this 6-week long program. No previous Italian language experience is necessary. You will gain a new appreciation for its art once you live in the city and experience the food, window dressing displays, fashion, and all Florence has to offer.
